The history of Sentinels dates back to 2018, but in fact the club appeared even earlier. The team was called Phoenix1 from 2016 to 2018.

After the rebranding, the Sentinels began to massively increase their presence in the esports field. The main popularity was gained thanks to the VALORANT division, founded in 2020, and media activity.

Sentinels in VALORANT

Sentinels first came to the shooter from Riot Games in April 2020, and the final roster was presented in June of the same year. The debut line-up included: ShahZaM, SicK, sinatraa, zombz and dapr.

Right off the bat, the Sentinels rushed to conquer the North American VALORANT scene. The first significant victory was the triumph at the PAX Arena Invitational, where the team defeated the star player in the VALORANT competitive arena - Cloud9 Blue in the grand final.

Until the end of the year, the team will win PoP Flash, as well as the JBL Quantum Cup. In 2021, the Sentinels sign a key character in the history of the VALORANT division and a goldmine in the VALORANT media space - TenZ.

At the same time, Sentinels are becoming part of the VCT ecosystem. Success comes almost immediately.

The Guardians are the winners at VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Challengers 1, VCT 2021: North America Stage 1: Masters, VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Challengers 2 and VCT 2021 North America Stage 2 Challengers Finals.

As the first team in the region, the Sentinels earn a well deserved slot to the first major tournament in competitive VALORANT - VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavik.

Having started their performance in Reykjavik from the second round of the upper bracket of the playoffs, the Sentinels were relentless. During the tournament, the team demonstrated an impeccable game, without losing a single map. The Sentinels defeated Fnatic 3-0 in the final.

The Sentinels went on to win three more VCTs in North America after the Major, but it waned towards the end of the year. It hurt the most at the Masters in Berlin, where the Sentinels took the TOP-8, and at VALORANT Champions 2021.

VALORANT Champions 2021 was supposed to be a breakthrough for the Sentinels, as the team was clearly aiming for the top spots. Considering their performance for the year, they were predictable, but KRU happened at the TOP-12 stage, which did not let the star Americans forward.

In 2022, the Sentinels went through a series of team changes. The team was looking for a suitable formula to continue dominance at least in the local arena.

The Sentinels decided to sign four new players: zekken, Sacy, pANcado, dephh. TenZ remained unchanged in its position.

Refreshing the roster with a Brazilian duo and two fresh Americans. Cardinal changes in the composition led to a global reshuffle of forces in North America: the Sentinels lost their status as the strongest.

In 2022, the team failed everything that is possible. The team took TOP-8 at VCT 2022: North America Stage 1 Challengers, dropped out of the first open qualifiers of VCT 2022: NA Stage 2 Challengers, but climbed into VCT 2022: North America Stage 2 thanks to the victory at the second qualifiers.

At the second stage, the Challengers Sentines took an extremely unusual 12th place, which was their worst result since the team's inception.

Improve or aggravate the position of the Sentinels will be in the new season. The team became one of the partners of the American VCT League.

Riot has moved VALORANT to a franchise chassis, and in 2023 teams will play on an updated infrastructure. Through careful selection, 10 participants were selected for the Americas region and the Sentinels are one of them.

Sentinels in Fortnite

While the VALORANT division has brought the Sentinels main popularity and notoriety, key financial victories have occurred in the arena of competitive Fortnite. The Sentinels entered there in the year the club was born, in 2018.

The decision to enter competitive Fortnite was completely justified in March 2019, when the club signed Bugha, a key person of the Sentinels along with TenZ.

At that time, the 17-year-old player was one of the most promising performers, and in July 2017, Kyle Giersdorf secured the status of the best in the world. All thanks to the victory at the Fortnite World Cup Finals.

Bugha earned $3,000,000 for winning the Fortnite World Cup Finals. This is the largest individual prize in the history of the club and the competitive club.

In addition to winning Bugha at the World Championship, Sentinels players, including Mero and Dukez, are regular guests of smaller tournaments due to the Epic Games reorganization of the Fortnite competitive scene.

Under the Sentinels banner, Bugha won FNCS - Grand Finals: North America East, FNCS: 2021 Grand Royals - NAE and C3S1: FNCS - Grand Finals: North America East.

From 2018 to 2022, the Sentinels generated $3,843,000 in Fortnite prize money.

Sentinels in shooters

Tactical shooter VALORANT isn't the only place where the Sentinels emblem is featured. The American esports club plays in Halo and Apex Legends. In both disciplines, the Sentinels were successful.

Sentinels Halo

The Sentinels came to HALO in 2020, the same year that the VALORANT division was created. The first roster in Halo Sentinels was shown in February 2020. The debut roster included: SnakeBite, LethuL, aPG, Royal2 and Royal1 in the status of a coach. Later that year, Frosty replaced aPG.

2020 has become a warm-up year. The team won two small tournaments of the Halo 5 Pro Series Season 1-2 NA - Championship series and took 3rd place at DreamHack Halo Series 2020: Anaheim.

There were more championships in 2021, but the Sentinels' best performance continued in the Halo 5 Pro Series NA - Championship tournaments, where the Sentinels won in Season 5.

The main result was expected in 2021. The Sentinels became the champions of the Halo Championship Series 2022: Kansas City Major, defeating the principal regional rival Cloud9 in the grand final.

However, the “clouds” got even pretty quickly. At the end of the competitive season, C9 eliminated the Sentinels from the Halo World Championship 2022, leaving them at the TOP-6 stage. Before that, they did the same on a major in Orlando.

Sentinels Apex Legends

Apex Legends from Respawn Sentinels appeared in the battle royale in 2019. The first line-up included: Payne, zombs and xretzi. Later was signed by senoxe/

As successful as in other disciplines Sentinels were not. The main achievements fell on 2019.

In the first season of activity, the Sentinels played at the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational, where they took the TOP-6. In the same year, there was a win at TwitchCon San Diego 2019 with the club's largest prize in the discipline - $85,000 for a win.

Another major stop in the Apex Legends esports plan is 2021. Then the team took 6th place in the ALGS Championship 2021 - North America and won the ALGS: 2021 Split 1 Pro League - North America.

In 2022, the Sentinels signed former professional player Brandon "aceu" Winn, known for playing CSGO and Apex Legends for NRG.

Over the period of operation, the Apex Legends division brought the club $300,000

Sentinels and allegations of sexual harassment

Being a highly moral club, Sentinels in every possible way suppresses any manifestations of harassment and other negative actions on the part of its players and other club employees. One of the most high-profile negative stories happened to the former Sentinels VALORANT player, Overwatch League 2019 champion in the San Francisco Shock and later streamer of the sinatraa club.

At that time, 19-year-old Jay Won got into a story with a sexual accusation. Jay's ex-girlfriend stated that the player raped her, while providing audio recordings. The Sentinels responded immediately by removing sinatraa from the active roster and launching an investigation, while Riot banned the player.

Proceedings continued from March to September 2021, but in the end, Won-ah's guilt was not proven. On September 10, 2021, sinatraa became the club's official streamer.

How much have the Sentinels earned in history

During the existence of the club, the Sentinels managed to enter the TOP-50 of the richest esports organizations in the world. It took the team 127 tournaments.

For getting into prizes at 127 events, the Sentinels climbed to the 47th line of the world ranking of the most successful clubs. The club earned over $4,428,000 from the prizes alone.
