zombs retires from the professional scene but stays with the Sentinels

American esportsman zombs has announced his retirement from the professional scene. However, the 24-year-old has revealed that he will remain with the Sentinels, but in a different position. Zombs spoke about this on one of his recent broadcasts.

I struggled for about a week. The team that I created had a certain potential, and we had potential interested organizations. But then I went to Los Angeles, talked to the owner of the Sentinels, and now I never want to leave the Sentinels. I'm staying with the Sentinels forever. I have been with the Sentinels since the very beginning as they had almost zero subscribers. I'm not going to compete again. For me it's not worth it anymore. I have opportunities that are better for the future, that are better in every way.

Recall that zombs played for the Sentinels since the team was founded in April 2020, but left the starting lineup two years later. During this time, the 24-year-old American became the champion of PAX Arena Invitational, Pop Flash, JBL Quantum Cup, VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Masters, VCT 2021: North America Stage 2 Challengers 2, VCT 2021: North America Stage 2 Challengers Finals, VCT 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík and VCT 2021: North America Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs and reach the First Strike North America semi-finals.

However, his future has been in doubt since leaving the Sentinels in the spring of 2022. Since then, the organization has seriously updated the composition, while zombs did not give any signs from their side. The 24-year-old American tried himself in Version1, but this experience was limited to only one championship.

As the e-sportsman himself stated, he got tired of the competition after he realized that it was "impossible" to form a team in which all players would be on the same wavelength. According to him, each squad has too many problems, and it's not worth spending years of life on the game.

The Sentinels are one of ten organizations that have made it into the VALORANT American League, which will be based in Los Angeles starting next season. The club will be joined by four other organizations from North America (Cloud9, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses and NRG Esports), three from Brazil (LOUD, FURIA and MIBR) and two from Latin America (KRU Esports and Leviatán Esports).

The current Sentinels roster for VALORANT is:

  • zekken
  • dephh
  • pANcada
  • Sacy
  • Tenz
  • SicK
  • SyykoNT (head coach)
  • kaplan (strategy trainer)
  • dapr (inactive)
