All news: stewie2k (Jacky Yip)
The future CSGO world champion was born on January 7, 1998. The first steps towards becoming the most titled and influential esports player in the region began in 2014, and Jackie had her first official team in March 2015.
Carier start
The debut roster for which Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip played was SapphireKelowanaDotCom. Despite the inexperience and often inherent impulsiveness of young players, Stewie2K was in the stack for 6 months.
At the beginning of the path to the esports peak, the player took part in small events, appearing in prize places in some places. So it was at ESEA Season 19: Premier Division - North America, where the SapphireKelowanaDotCom stack took TOP-3, while the rest of the performances left much to be desired.
In October 2015, Stewie moved to Splyce, the first organization of his career. He will stay there for less than a month and will have time to become the champion of RGN Showseries, as well as Northern Arena 2015.
Already in January 2016, Stewie2k moves to the Cloud9 camp. From here begins his handicap to the world championship.
Cloud9 Stewie2k and the first steps in the title organization
Having tried his hand at small clubs with insignificant results, Stewie managed to prove himself as a high-class rifler. His talents were noticed and in January 2016 the player received an invitation from the top North American club - Cloud9.
Having received a ticket to really big esports, Jacky took advantage of it and started playing tournaments under the banner of Cloud9 from the early days of 2016. And the debut tournament of the newcomer C9 was the qualifiers for the Global eSports Cup - Season 1 - NA Group Stage, where C9 managed to win their group.
A good start overshadowed the Global eSports Cup - Season 1 main event. At the Cloud9 tournament, we met Team Envy in the first round of the playoffs, after which the first left the championship on the 5-6th line.
Then C9 continued team building, at the same time trying to play in major and not the most championships. One of these was the iBUYPOWER Invitational 2016 - Spring, where Cloud9 closed out Team Liquid in the grand final with a score of 2-1. Among other things, a month earlier, the team took TOP-8 in the qualifiers for the MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016 - Offline Qualifier, which allowed them to qualify for the major tournament itself.
The first global championship ended in complete failure for Stewie2k. The team failed to get past the Swiss round and C9 ended up in the TOP-16.
Analyzing what is happening in the camp of Cloud9 in the period of 2016, we can say that the club was guided by the principle of failures and trials. There were more of the first ones, however, there were also bright moments.
So, for example, Cloud9 reached high places at TIER-S tournaments, whether it was StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2 with TOP-4 there, DreamHack Open Bucharest 2016 with second place, or ESL Pro League Season 4. At the last C9 event in the grand final, they defeated the then dominant SK Gaming, earning $200,000 and the club's most prestigious cup at that time.
However, the main achievements were waiting for C9 ahead.
Championship at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018
Having finished 2016 with the second place at ELEAGUE Minor Atlanta 2017, Stewie2k, along with his teammates, became full-fledged participants in the largest and most prestigious esports events of the discipline. C9 constantly played in the S-TIER championships, but they did not manage to reach an acceptable performance.
At the beginning of the year, there were 12th place at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, TOP-10 at Intel Extreme Masters XI - World Championship, 5th at ESL Pro League Season 5 - North America and much sadder 11-12th at ESL Pro League Season 5 - Finals.
It was possible to break a series of failures during the American Minor in June of the same year. At the Americas Minor Championship - Krakow 2017, the club managed to take the championship, which, in turn, guaranteed Stewie2k as part of C9 to get to the Krakow Major.
Since the championship in Columbus, C9 have improved in quality, reaching the TOP-11 of the tournament. Then another series of attempts began to find their place under the sun.
In the fall of 2017, Stewie2k as part of C9 reached the TOP-4 at ESL One: New York 2017 and ELEAGUE: CS:GO Premier 2017. There was also Intel Extreme Masters XII - Oakland, where the team still took the TOP-4 and still flew out by Faze.
With FaZe, Cloud9 formed a kind of sports competition, where the former were better than the latter. This continued until ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018.
At the home arena, Cloud9 risked collapse once again when they “flyed” with a score of 0-2 in the second stage of the championship. However, the “clouds” managed to make a Reverse Sweep, mostly thanks to the personal level of Stewie2k and other members of the roster: Skadoodle, autimatic, RUSH and tarik played for C9 at the major in Boston.
Having turned the tide in the New Legends stage, Cloud9 made it to the playoffs, where, unexpectedly for many, they made it to the grand final, beating G2 Esports (2-0) and SK Gaming (2-1) along the way.
In the decisive confrontation, Cloud9 took revenge on FaZe for the long tournaments of the latter's dominance. Stewie2k as part of C9 became the first player from North America to win a major as part of a mono-national club.
Stewie2k career continuation - SK Gaming, Team Liquid
The triumph at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 actually became a tribute to Stewie2k for the organization. The player tried to prolong the moment of euphoria and gain a foothold on the podium of the best team in the world, but this did not work out.
After winning the Boston Major, the team took TOP-11 at StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4, TOP-6 at the Intel Extreme Masters XII - World Championship and made it to the top eight at World Electronic Sports Games 2017.
Such places in the standings did not correspond to the increased appetites of the major champion, and therefore Stewie2k decided to continue his career elsewhere.
Stewie2k's new home is SK Gaming, home of the legendary FalleN, two-time CSGO world champion. Later, SK Gaming, after unsatisfactory results, changed to MIBR.
FalleN's brainchild was joined by tarik, with whom Stewie2k won the major. The MIBR strike squad was called upon to win the championship in the international competitive arena, and the team had some prerequisites for this.
With MIBR, Stewie2k won ZOTAC Cup Masters 2018, took TOP-4 at FACEIT Major: London 2018 and 2nd place at BLAST Pro Series: Instanbul 2018. Then the team kept afloat: MIBR won ESL Pro League Season 8 - North America, subsequently having finished in the top four of ESL Pro League Season 8 - Finals, then took 4th place at BLAST Pro Series: Lisbon 2018.
However, mostly good performance did not make Stewie2k stay in the Brazilian club. The prospect of moving to the domestic Team Liquid. As it turned out later, the decision was fully justified.
Although the acquaintance with Team Liquid for Stewie2k ended in TOP-8 at Intel Extreme Masters XIII - Katowice Major 2019, but later the joint performance of the player and the club at major tournaments was at its best. So much so that in 2019 the era of Liquid actually happened.
Since May 2019, Stewie2k has won 7 tournaments as part of Liquid, including Intel Grand Slam Season 2 with a million for the victory. Titles include DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, GG.Bet Cologne Invitational, ESL Pro League Season 9 - Finals, ESL One: Cologne 2019, BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019, Intel Extreme Masters XIV - Chicago.
The trend with Liquid in high places in major tournaments remained until the end of the year. Towards the end, the team took 2nd place at Esports Championship Series Season 8 - Finals and TOP-2 at BLAST Pro Series: Global Final 2019.
Perhaps the pressure of Liquid would have continued in the future if it were not for the COVID-19 pandemic that happened. The transition to online hit the peak composition of the “horses”, and Stewie2k himself soon became an Evil Geniuses player
Evil Geniuses and a pause in the career of an active player
Stewie2k played for Liquid in 2020 and 2021, but it was not possible to get close to the performance of the 2019 sample. Riefler left the Team Liquid camp after top-4 at Blast Premier: World Final 2021, and top-12 at PGL Major Stockholm 2021 before that.
After leaving the most successful place in terms of the number of titles, Stewie2k moved to another North American organization - Evil Geniuses.
The cooperation between the player and the “evil geniuses” began sadly: the team took TOP-12 at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2022, and then 21-24th place at ESL Pro League Season 15, a series of tournaments that was always successful for Stewie2k until Evil Geniuses.
The final chord for Stewie2k was the performance at PGL Major Antwerp 2022: American RMR, where the “evil geniuses” finished in the TOP-8.
Since April 2022, Jacky has gone inactive as a player, but has remained in the media space. Stewie2k became the streamer of the Evil Geniuses club.
