Stewie2K Makes a Comeback: Joins Brazilian Squad Legacy as Temporary Replacement for Coldzera
Jake "Stewie2K" Yip, formerly of Cloud9 and Liquid, has joined the Brazilian esports organization Legacy on a temporary basis. The announcement comes following the benching of Marcelo "coldzera" David shortly after Legacy's return from the PGL Major Copenhagen. At 26, Stewie2K steps in to fill the vacancy left by coldzera.
Legacy shared via a post on X that Stewie2K is joining the team during their transition to the United States, though the exact duration of his stay wasn't specified. However, sources like Dust2 Brasil suggest that the ELEAGUE Major Boston winner will compete with Legacy throughout April in online events, including ESEA and the Esports World Cup qualifiers. Legacy views this as a potential trial period, hinting at a possible permanent spot for Stewie2K should the team perform well.
Stewie2K is no stranger to Brazilian teams, having spent a significant part of 2018 with SK and MIBR, where he played alongside notable figures like Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and coldzera. After leaving Evil Geniuses' lineup in July 2022 to focus on streaming, Stewie2K declared his readiness to return to competitive play eight months later, expressing his eagerness to compete at the highest level once more.
Legacy, which exited the Copenhagen Major's Opening Stage ranked 9th-11th, currently consists of Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer, Bruno "latto" Rebelatto, Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara, with Jake "Stewie2K" Yip as a stand-in player, and Olavo "chucky" Napoleão as coach. Marcelo "coldzera" David remains on the bench.
