Stewie2K Joins Wildcard for PGL Astana 2025 Qualifiers

American CS legend Jake "Stewie2K" Yip is set to return to competitive play, this time bolstering Wildcard’s roster for the PGL Astana 2025 closed qualifiers. The event, taking place online in North America from March 27 to April 1, will feature 32 teams split into four GSL-style groups. Each group of eight teams will compete in Bo3 matches, with the top teams advancing to the playoffs. The final stage will follow a single-elimination format, featuring Bo3 semifinals and a Bo5 grand final.

Stewie2K: A Legacy of Success

Jake Yip began his professional career playing for local North American teams before joining Cloud9 in 2016. Despite initial skepticism, he quickly became a pivotal player, leading Cloud9 to a historic victory at ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018, marking the first-ever Major win for a North American team.

Following his Cloud9 success, Stewie2K went on to play for MIBR, Team Liquid, and Evil Geniuses, securing numerous trophies along the way. After a brief hiatus from competitive play, he made a stunning return as a stand-in for G2 at IEM Dallas 2024, where he unexpectedly secured the championship title.
