Insider Shared Update on Multiplayer Assassin’s Creed Title and Rayman Legends Remake

Currently, Ubisoft is working on several announced and unannounced projects, which are at different stages of development, and not all games are being produced equally well. For example, according to insider Tom Henderson, the new Far Cry installment is literally going through development hell, while the multiplayer title in the Assassin's Creed game series has been delayed several times and, theoretically, could be canceled.

As for Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, the above-mentioned upcoming multiplayer title, at the end of last month, the first tests of the game took place, which, it is reported, were not successful—players called Ubisoft's upcoming project "terrible." Later, the first image of an early version of Codename Invictus was leaked, and some details of the game were also revealed.

During the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly, insider Tom Henderson, who recently shared some details of Codename Invictus, revealed that the game is “based on rounds” and players “level up their character during the rounds with abilities.” Then he added that Ubisoft is working on incorporating tactical elements into the game. He also confirmed an early leak of a screenshot published by another insider, xj0nathan, that it is indeed an image from an early version of the game.

Besides Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, Tom Henderson revealed more information about the upcoming remake of Rayman Legends, the game, which hasn’t been confirmed by Ubisoft yet. According to the scooper, he heard some really great feedback about the project, and it might be officially revealed this summer.

“I’m hearing quite a lot of positive things about the Rayman Legends remake. That’s coming back with co-op and everything people love about that game. I think we’ll hear about it this summer. Who knows?”

At the moment, Ubisoft is working on many projects, and almost all of them have faced or are facing development issues in one way or another. For example, the next mainline Assassin's Creed - Codename Hexe - was announced back in 2022 and still does not have a release date. According to the latest information, magical elements have been removed from the game, and the release is targeted for next summer.

It is also impossible not to mention Beyond Good and Evil 2—originally announced back in 2008 but shown again at E3 2017—nothing is really known about the game to this day. In addition, the studio is working on a Splinter Cell remake, which has been postponed to 2027, the third installment of The Division, and a new part of Ghost Recon— it is this one that is expected to be Ubisoft's next release after Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which will be released on July 9 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

As for the games mentioned by Tom Henderson in the podcast, Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus is a multiplayer project being developed by people who worked on For Honor. According to the insider's description, the game looks “just like an Assassin’s Creed game, where players select one of their favorite characters to battle it out in areas placed in iconic Assassin’s Creed locations". Rayman Legends is the 2013 platform game and the direct sequel to 2011’s Rayman Origins. The game’s plot reveals that Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies, after a year-long sleep, embark on a journey through magical painting-portals, where they fight enemies, free worlds from nightmares, and rescue princesses.
