First Look at Multiplayer Assassin’s Creed Title, Codename Invictus, Has Been Leaked
Despite players' massive interest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which was officially confirmed at the end of March, Ubisoft is also known to be working on at least two big franchise installments, which are also totally different from each other.
One of them is the next mainline game series, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, set in the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire. The game was initially announced in 2022 and still doesn’t have a release date. However, the project is reportedly set to release in 2027, and, according to rumors, it underwent significant changes when Jean Guedson became the game’s creative director—in particular, all magical elements were removed, and we can now expect a more down-to-earth and realistic installment in the series.
There is another project, which is confirmed to be in development—Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus, a multiplayer title being developed by the creators of For Honor. Recently, the game received its first closed testing, and, according to game series xj0nathan, the game looks "terrible" for now. At the same time, another industry journalist, Tom Henderson, made a statement regarding the game. He confirmed that Codename Invictus does not look like Fall Guys, despite previous rumors, but uses some mechanics. As for the game's appearance, according to him, it still looks like Assassin's Creed, and the gameplay itself consists of selecting characters from the franchise’s lore and fighting other players in arenas created in the style of locations from different titles.
It looks like we just received our first look at Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, revealed by the above-mentioned xj0nathan. He clarifies that the game is not textured yet, so this may be the early look at how the game might look, as you can check out below:
“LEAK: Here you go, a little something extra: a first look at Assassin's Creed Invictus!
A large part of the game isn't textured yet, so don't be surprised by the big gray blocks; it's really just to give you a glimpse of what the game currently looks like.”
In turn, the official Assassin's Creed account on X reacted to the leak. It was stated that this could indeed be a screenshot from an early test of the game, but enhanced with the help of AI. Also, Ubisoft will be ready to share new details about Codename Invictus when the time comes.
“Nice try... This might have started as an image from our private test, but it’s been heavily altered (most probably with AI). Not great to spread misinformation.
For those genuinely curious about the project: we'll share more when the time is right!”
Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, as mentioned by Tom Henderson, has been delayed several times, and insider hints suggest if the game is about to have more problems during the development, it might be even cancelled, like multiple Ubisoft projects this year. The release date of Invictus was reportedly set for the end of 2026, but after a disappointing test, it might be pushed once again.
Recently, we also heard information that Ubisoft is planning to make a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed video game. As for Black Flag Resynced, the game will release on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
