Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus Details Shared by Insider

Ubisoft is currently developing multiple Assassin’s Creed titles, including Black Flag Resynced, the remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and the next mainline game series, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, set in the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire, which is reportedly set to be released next year.

Not only that, but the studio is also working on a new multiplayer title based on Assassin’s Creed universe—Assassin's Creed Codename Invictus. We don’t know much about the project besides confirmed information that the team responsible for the game is For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal.

Last week, Assassin’s Creed insider xj0nathan shared some disturbing reports on Codename Invictus; specifically, with a reference to the first game’s testing, he described the game as “absolutely terrible” and admitted that it might be postponed by Ubisoft after the initial plan to release it at the end of 2026—or even cancel it at all.

Nevertheless, gaming insider Tom Henderson released a new report about Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus. Firstly, he denied previous rumors that the game is looking much like Fall Guys; in fact, it does have some Fall Guys elements in the sense that Codename Invictus is a knockout-round-based title, nothing more. He also clarifies the game looks “just like an Assassin’s Creed game, where players select one of their favorite characters to battle it out in areas placed in iconic Assassin’s Creed locations.” At one of the game’s showcases, it was revealed how several Assassin’s Creed characters fight with each other in arenas from Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Henderson also revealed that Codename Invictus has been delayed a couple of times during its development, and a potential cancellation, if something goes wrong, is possible. However, Ubisoft still considers Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus as part of its franchise development and is likely to reveal official information later this year.

Recently, we also heard information that Ubisoft is planning to make a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed video game. As for Black Flag Resynced, the game will release on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
