Ubisoft Plans to Release New Ghost Recon Video Soon
Ubisoft is currently preparing for the full announcement of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced—the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, released back in 2013. Earlier this week, the game was revealed to the media, but the fans still need to wait another week to see the upcoming and long-awaited remake.
Recently, insider Tom Henderson took part on Insider Weekly Gaming podcast, where he revealed new details for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and hinted that the full reveal is scheduled for April 23, when the game’s embargo is lifted. Moreover, he also shared some information about other projects that are now in development by Ubisoft.
As we know, the studio is reportedly working on two new Far Cry installments —the next mainline story campaign set in Alaska and the multiplayer one. However, according to Henderson, game series is now “going through hell”. As for other franchises, insider reveals that the work on the Rayman remake is well underway, even though the studio hasn't officially announced the game yet, but Splinter Cell Remake, developed by Ubisoft Toronto, has been delayed to 2027. The reason may be that Ubisoft downsized the studio earlier this year. At last, Henderson shared that Ubisoft’s next release after Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the new Ghost Recon title.
“The next big game by Ubisoft after Black Flag is, if all goes well, is Ghost Recon. I Don’t Think we are seeing Splinter cell next year. Far Cry is going through hell and back right now.”
It’s not the first time we hear about a new Ghost Recon video game. The game is reportedly titled Project Over and might be released this year or in 2027. However, the development may have suffered because of another round of layoffs inside the company.
Ubisoft is going through a rough patch, as many of its games—including the new Far Cry title and the Splinter Cell remake—are currently on hold, and it remains unclear when they will be released or what condition they will be in. Let’s not forget the studio is still working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, initially announced in 2008 and “reannounced” at E3 2017, as well as multiple Assassin’s Creed games. It is possible that, given the company’s current precarious situation, some projects will ultimately be canceled—such as the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was scrapped this winter.
As for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the game is rumored to be released on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
