Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Matched Baldur's Gate 3's Record
On April 17, British Academy Film Awards announced the winners of the annual BAFTA Games Awards 2026. As expected, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was named the winner in Game of the Year nominee, and by winning this award, Sandfall Interactive’s title has broken another record, which previously belonged to just one game.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was a resounding success, acclaimed by both players and critics, and as a result, the game won Game of the Year at five major gaming awards ceremonies —Golden Joystick, DICE Awards, GDC Awards, The Game Awards, and now—BAFTA Games Awards. Before it, only one game had achieved this: Baldur's Gate 3, released in 2023 and developed by Larian Studios.
This once again demonstrates the uniqueness of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and establishes it as one of the greatest games in history. At the recent 2026 BAFTA Games Awards ceremony, the game won three awards, tying with Dispatch, and that was enough to make it the leader in terms of the number of awards won. In addition to Game of the Year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won in the categories of Debut Game and Performing in a Leading Role (Jennifer English as Maelle). Earlier this year, the game also received the most GOTY awards—436—by beating Elden Ring (429).
