At this time, Ubisoft Toronto has announced that 40 of the company’s employees are being laid off. The studio is known for developing such projects as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and also assets such titles as Far Cry 5, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Far Cry 6. Some of the fans might have been concerned about the fate of Splinter Cell remake, as Ubisoft Toronto is responsible for the game’s development; however, it’s been confirmed the title is still in development and not cancelled, at least for now.

The company released a statement about Ubisoft Toronto’s layoffs and you can check it below:

“This decision was not taken lightly and does not in any way reflect the talent, dedication, or contributions of the individuals affected. Our priority now is to support them through this transition with comprehensive severance packages and robust career placement assistance”

It’s not the first time this year for Ubisoft to fire its employees: last month it was revealed 55 workers of Massive Entertainment (Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontier of Pandora, The Division franchise) and Ubisoft Stockholm have lost their jobs.
