Capcom Cut Some Features In Resident Evil Requiem—Including Merchant, Side Quests, and More
We already know that Capcom was forced to cut some features from Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment of the horror franchise that came out this February. A recent leak reveals even more fascinating details of cut content that was initially part of the game.
The information comes from the group of Japanese dataminers umesooooo, which revealed a lot of unused elements found in the game files. For instance, it is indicated that someone like the merchant from Resident Evil 4 could appear in the game, with whom one could interact, exchanging and upgrading weapons. Then, it is shown that the game could have had side missions that might have expanded the main plot of the game. Also, at some stage of the game, namely at the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center location, the developers considered the possibility of interaction between Leon and Grace during gameplay, as well as moments when enemies could chase Emily and carry her similarly to how it was with Ashley in Resident Evil 4. Perhaps the most intriguing cut idea is the investigation mechanics: Leon probably had to search for clues at crime scenes, which would reveal details of what happened. Other cut possibilities mentioned include poisoned and incendiary ammunition, a 'Professional' difficulty mode, a scene with motorcycle repair in Raccoon City, red herb, and much more. Some screenshots with the aforementioned cut content in Resident Evil Requiem can be checked out below:

This is not the first time we heard about the cut content in Resident Evil Requiem. Recently, Capcom confirmed that the studio actually cut the entire chapter from the game, as well as considered including Ada Wong in Requiem; however, during the development process, she simply could not find her place in the game's story. There are still chances we might see Ada Wong soon, as she is rumored to appear in a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem in one of its expansions alongside Chris Redfield.
Speaking of a DLC to Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom also released a fresh update to the game that includes a new mode— Leon Must Die Forever —a mini-game where you complete numerous challenges using various power-ups. It is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
