Ghost of Yōtei Is Getting a Survival Mode With Jin Sakai and a New Story Expansion

Sucker Punch Productions used tonight's Sony State of Play to officially unveil Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition, an expanded release that bundles two major pieces of new content: the combat survival mode Most Wanted and the story expansion Echoes of Sekigahara.

Most Wanted: A Roguelike Bounty Hunt

The biggest surprise of the night is Most Wanted, a mode built around roguelike mechanics. Players pick one of four characters and take on increasingly difficult bounties pulled from a bounty board, hunting down targets one by one. Each bounty centers on a member of the Yōtei Six, sending players through waves of enemies and minibosses before they can reach the main target. Clearing waves rewards perks that can be stacked into powerful builds.

The mode's standout feature is its character roster. Alongside Atsu, Oyuki, and Nagato, players will be able to take control of Jin Sakai, the protagonist of the original Ghost of Tsushima.

Echoes of Sekigahara: Atsu's Past Resurfaces

The second addition, Echoes of Sekigahara, is a full story campaign split across two timelines. In flashback sequences, players witness Atsu's involvement in the Battle of Sekigahara alongside a new character named Nagato. In the present-day storyline, the action shifts to Ezo, where Atsu and Nagato reunite to take on the Vipers gang. The expansion adds a new region to the map, additional enemy types, heavy weapons, new Mythic Tales, and cosmetic items.

Separately, Sucker Punch is adding a free mode for all existing owners called Beauty of Yōtei – a screensaver-like feature that lets players sit back and take in the game's landscapes in a calm, contemplative view.

Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition launches on PS5 on October 1, 2026, priced at $69.99. The package includes:

• The base game
• The cooperative Legends mode
• Digital Deluxe Edition content
• The Charm of Hokkyokusei
• Both new additions - Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara

Owners of the original game can pick up just the new content through the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. Anyone who pre-orders before September 30 will get early access to the Sakai Armor right at launch which was announced a month ago.
