ESL has announced the format of the upcoming Dota 2 tournament in England.

Totally, 12 teams will take part in the championship. A half of them has already received their direct invitations. The other six participants will pass through 6 regional qualifiers.

The group stage will be hosted on May 23-24. The matches of the group stage will be carried out not on the stage but in the closed zone. 12 participants will be divided into three groups with 4 participants in each one, where they will play by a GSL system. The first matches will be run in a bo1 format and all others will be hosted in a bo3 format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. Teams that hold the second places will go right to the quarterfinal. Participants that hold the first places will play the decider Bo1 matches. According to the results of these matches, two teams that advance to the semi-final will be determined. Teams that hold the third place in the decider matches will start their participation from the quarterfinal.

All playoff matches will be played in a bo3 format and finalists will play the grand final in a bo5 series.

Let’s remind that ESL One Birmingham 2018 will take place in Birmingham, England on May 23-27. The prize pool of the Major tournament will amount $1,000,000 and 1,500 DPC points, Arena Birmingham will be a venue for the event.
