Dota 2 Drops Out of Top 10 — Esports Viewership Shift in 2026

Esports Charts has released its Q1 2026 report, revealing a major shift in the competitive landscape—Dota 2 is no longer among the most-watched esports titles.

The data shows that the industry is increasingly dominated by a handful of leading games, while others, including long-standing giants, are gradually losing visibility.

At the top, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang leads by a wide margin. Its M7 World Championship reached an impressive 5.68 million peak viewers, significantly outperforming all competitors.

Other top-performing titles include:

  • League of Legends — 1.5 million peak viewers
  • Counter-Strike 2 — 1.39 million
  • Valorant — 883K
  • Rocket League — 624K

These games continue to define the core of the global esports ecosystem, consistently drawing the largest audiences.

One of the most notable takeaways is Dota 2’s absence from the top 10, as it placed only 12th. This marks a significant drop for a title that once stood among the industry’s leaders and regularly competed at the highest level.

What Caused the Drop?

Several factors appear to have contributed to this decline:

  • No major international tournaments during the first quarter
  • Lower media visibility compared to competing titles
  • The growing dominance of mobile esports, especially in Asia
  • More structured and consistent event schedules in CS2 and League of Legends
  • Increasing regional concentration, limiting broader global appeal

The Bigger Picture

Q1 2026 highlights a clear shift in esports dynamics. Mobile titles continue to break records, some traditional games remain stable, while others are beginning to lose momentum.

Whether this is a temporary setback for Dota 2 or a sign of a longer-term decline remains uncertain. The upcoming quarters will likely play a key role in determining its future position.
