The organizers of the tournament just announced two teams that will participate in StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3. Two grand finalists of the previous The International joined LAN-final SL i-League Invitational Season 3 as invited teams. The first Dota 2 Minor tournament will take place in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, from October 12 till 15. 8 teams will participate in the championship, and 2 of them will get direct invites. Other teams will be determined during the qualifiers. Team Liquid demonstrated great results during the whole 2016/2017 season. They won such tournaments as DreamLeague Season 6, StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3, StarLadder i-League Invitational #2, EPICENTER 2016, DreamLeague Season 6 and The International 2017.

They managed to win Dota2 Professional League Season 2 - Top, ZOTAC Cup Masters and Galaxy Battles. In The International 2017 NewBee took the second place. The Chinese team was close to becoming the first team to win The International 2017 for two times.[Interesting fact: Team Liquid became the first team to defeat the opponent in the final match of The International losing no map. The maps lasted for 27, 34 and 45 minutes. Usually, the final match of Dota 2 world championship is more tensed.]
