Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs Franchise Reportedly Dead, According to Insider
It’s definitely not the best time for Ubisoft company, as the studio recently announced its restructuring, and as a result, multiple titles have been postponed and even cancelled, including the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Earlier this month, there was a report that Ubisoft is planning to make a lot of announcements and releases this year, but it seems like they will keep their developments, and in fact, we still don’t know what they are currently focused on. However, according to an insider’s report, there is, at least, one franchise that likely will not get any new installments in the future.
During the latest Inside Gaming Weekly podcast, insider Tom Henderson reveals Ubisoft is likely to abandon Watch Dogs franchise, and new games will not be released anytime soon. He clarifies the studio currently doesn’t have any ideas or desire to make new titles, and there is a chance game series could be put on hold indefinitely.

Watch Dogs franchise started back in 2014, when the original game was launched. Despite being one of the most promising and anticipated projects, after a remarkable reveal at E3 2012, the game has been pretty average. Ubisoft released a sequel, Watch Dogs 2, in 2016, and for most gamers, it’s probably the best game in the trilogy. The latest entry, Watch Dogs: Legion, released in 2020, has received mostly mixed reviews from players and critics.
