StarCraft's Similar to Space Marine 2 and New Strategy Game—Jez Corden Reveals More of Blizzard’s Plans

With BlizzCon just around the corner, rumors and insider information about which games might be unveiled are flooding the internet. A recent report reveals that Blizzard may be preparing to announce a strategy title and also offers more details about the release of a new game in the studio's most famous franchise.

The information was shared by well-known insider and Windows Central editor Jez Corden. During the Xbox Two Podcast, he revealed details about the new StarCraft game, which has been the subject of intense rumors over the past week. According to Corden, it will be a single-player project with a full-fledged story campaign in a third-person perspective, visually and in terms of its combat system reminiscent of Space Marine 2. He also stated he had previously seen several cutscenes, voiced sequences, and gameplay footage rendered in StarCraft’s signature photorealistic graphics, but he doesn’t know what the game looks like now.

Separately, Corden also mentioned that Blizzard is working on a strategy game with a Western studio. The unnamed developers have previously worked on a strategy game for Microsoft—but the insider did not disclose any other details. Most likely, the official announcement will take place at BlizzCon. In the same podcast, Corden shared his predictions for the event, noting the likelihood of several Warcraft and Diablo IV projects being showcased, announcements of TV series based on Blizzard franchises, and much more.

Speaking of StarCraft, fans previously discovered that the new installment might be a co-op shooter after Blizzard updated the game’s official website in an unusual way, and skilled individuals uncovered the contents of its code. Additionally, there are reports that Nexon may acquire the rights to the franchise in order to begin full-scale development of StarCraft III—and it’s possible that an official announcement is also planned for BlizzCon, as the deal with Blizzard/Microsoft is reportedly in its final stages.
