Insider Clarifies Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC Release Window and Details
This spring, Capcom confirmed it's working on a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry and a massive success for the studio. Details on the expansion remain scarce, but earlier reports suggest players can expect something genuinely large-scale, running nearly a dozen of hours and possibly setting up events for future games.
Looking for more, X users turned to well-known franchise insider Dusk Golem for details on the expansion. He didn't reveal much that's radically new, though he did add a few small details. According to him, the Requiem story DLC is expected to release in late 2027 and should be substantial, comparable in scope to a full Resident Evil spin-off. He also claimed the team behind Separate Ways, the Resident Evil 4 remake's DLC, is working on it, and there's a chance another mini-game could release before the main DLC launches, though that's still unconfirmed. You can check out more details below:
I've been saying this for a few months now, but after Resident Evil Requiem's release, reception, sales, & fan demands, Capcom decided to make the RE9 story DLC rather ambitious & to fill the desire for spin-offs in the current era, & is aiming for a late 2027 release.
It's just how long it takes to make the thing they're aiming to make, I also believe the report by MP1st it's being worked on by a lot of the same people who worked on Separate Ways DLC for RE:4, adds up with things I've heard.
I've been hearing in the rumor mill lately actually that there might be other "mini-game" free content update DLCs added leading up to RE9's story DLC release, but I haven't heard that from anyone I trust yet, just stuff in the grapevine that may or may not be true. Those murmurs have been going on recently though.
Dusk Golem was also one of the first to report the Requiem DLC is planned to follow Resident Evil Veronica, Capcom's upcoming remake set for next year, though its exact release date remains unknown. Speaking of which, what's claimed to be an early look at the remake recently surfaced, though it's unclear whether it's genuine or an AI-generated fake. Dusk Golem weighed in on that leak too, though he stopped short of giving a definitive answer either way.
Resident Evil Veronica is confirmed to release next year on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release date for Requiem’s story DLC is currently unknown.
