Resident Evil remains Capcom’s king with 174 million sales, followed by Monster Hunter at 122 million, leaving a wide gap to the rest. This breakdown covers every major series, how many copies they’ve sold, their latest releases, and confirmed or rumored future plans.
According to GameSpot, Japanese gaming giant Capcom owns some of the most enduring franchises in the industry. Many of these series span decades, with entries across multiple platforms and genres, from action horror to fighting games. Here’s how they stack up in lifetime sales and what’s in the pipeline for each.

19. Commando – 1.2 million
The first Commando hit arcades in 1985, followed by sequels like Bionic Commando, with the latest release in 2009. No new games in the franchise are planned.

18. 1942 – 1.4 million
The original 1942 arrived in arcades in 1984. Its most recent title, 1942: First Strike, landed on iOS in 2010. There are no announced follow-ups.

17. Final Fight – 3.2 million
Debuting in arcades in 1989, Final Fight’s last appearance was the 2011 iOS version. Capcom has no public plans for a revival.

16. Breath of Fire – 3.3 million
This RPG series began on SNES in 1993. The last entry, Breath of Fire 6, launched in 2016 but shut down in 2017. No sequels are on the horizon.

15. Sengoku Basara – 4.1 million
Launched in 2005 for PS2, Sengoku Basara’s final release was a mobile title in 2019, which closed in 2020. No new projects have been revealed.

14. Dino Crisis – 4.5 million
The dinosaur-themed action game started in 1999. Dino Crisis 3, in 2010, marked the last entry. There’s no word on a revival despite fan interest.

13. Okami – 4.7 million
First released in 2006, Okami’s most recent game was Okamiden in 2010. A new mainline entry, temporarily called “Okami Sequel,” was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with details still under wraps.

12. Ghosts 'n Goblins – 4.7 million
This classic arcade series debuted in 1985, with the latest being Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection in 2021. No new installments are confirmed.

11. Lost Planet – 6.9 million
The sci-fi shooter began in 2006 and ended with Lost Planet 3 in 2013. A movie adaptation was announced in 2008, but has yet to happen. No new games have been confirmed.

10. Onimusha – 8.9 million
Onimusha: Warlords launched in 2001. The most recent game, Onimusha VR: Shadow Team, arrived in 2024. A remaster of Onimusha 2 came in May 2025, with Onimusha Way of the Sword set for 2026.

9. Marvel vs. Capcom – 12 million
This crossover fighter started in 1998. The latest original entry was Infinite in 2017, with a 2024 collection of arcade classics following. There are no new entries planned.

8. Ace Attorney – 13 million
Phoenix Wright’s courtroom debut came in 2001. The newest release was Ace Attorney Investigations Collection in 2024. No future games have been announced.

7. Dragon’s Dogma – 13 million
Introduced in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma 2 launched in 2024 and sold 2.5 million in its first week. There’s no official word on a third game yet.

6. Dead Rising – 18 million
Starting in 2006, Dead Rising’s latest main game was in 2016, with a remaster of the first game in 2024. Reports hint at a new project, but nothing is confirmed.

5. Devil May Cry – 36 million
The stylish action series began in 2001, with DMC 5 in 2019 as the latest mainline game. Mobile spin-off Peak of Combat released in 2024. An anime is coming to Netflix, but no new games are announced.

4. Mega Man – 43 million
Since 1987, Mega Man has been one of Capcom’s most recognizable franchises. Mega Man 11 in 2018 was the last new title, and while no follow-up is confirmed, Capcom says it’s “considering” new projects.

3. Street Fighter – 57 million
Debuting in 1987, the fighting giant’s most recent release is Street Fighter 6 from 2023. No next entry has been announced, but its continued success makes another game likely.

2. Monster Hunter – 122 million
The series began in 2004 and has grown into a global phenomenon. Monster Hunter Wilds was released in February 2025, with ongoing post-launch updates planned. Mobile game Monster Hunter Now is still active.

1. Resident Evil – 174 million
Since its 1996 debut, Resident Evil has led Capcom’s sales charts. The latest is the 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake, following Village in 2021.
Resident Evil Requiem is coming in 2026. Barbarian director Zach Cregger is now working on a Resident Evil reboot movie.
