Konami Confirms: Silent Hill f Is Not a Sequel

Silent Hill f may carry the name, but it’s not tied to the tangled legacy of the mainline series. Konami has officially confirmed that the upcoming title is a standalone entry, independent from the core Silent Hill timeline.

"This is a completely new work, independent of the series. Even those who have never played Silent Hill can enjoy this game," the publisher announced on X.

🏯 A New Setting, A New Nightmare

Set in 1960s rural Japan, Silent Hill f ditches the familiar American fog for something entirely new. The story follows Hinako Shimizu, a schoolgirl haunted by trauma, isolation, and vanishing classmates. Instead of rust and sirens, this version of horror blooms—literally—with unsettling flowers spreading in grotesque, unnatural ways.

Though it breaks from the established canon—no Pyramid Head, no retcons of Downpour or Homecoming—it retains the series’ signature psychological dread, atmospheric horror, and potential cult undertones.

🎮 A Clean Slate for the Franchise

Launched in 1999 by Team Silent, the original series built its name on fear, fog, and fractured psyches. But after a series of divisive sequels and Western-developed entries, the franchise began to lose its footing.

Now, Konami is rebooting Silent Hill as a multiverse, with a mix of remakes, original stories, and bold experiments. While titles like the Silent Hill 2 Remake aim to honor the past, others—like the peculiar Short Message and Silent Hill f—take the franchise in unexpected directions.

No Release Date Yet, But…

While Konami hasn’t revealed an official release date for Silent Hill f, fans may not have to wait long for an update. With Anime Expo scheduled for July in Los Angeles, speculation is mounting that new details or a trailer could drop at the event.
