Starting tomorrow, July 23, as announced earlier this week, Electronic Arts will reveal the latest installment of its football simulator series—EA Sports FC 27. The studio recently confirmed that Kylian Mbappé will be the face of the new title, as he appears on its official cover, and several leaks have already surfaced shortly before and after that announcement.

But that’s not all the announcements we have from Electronic Arts. This time, the developers shared the cover art for the standard edition of EA Sports FC 27 on their social media channels. Once again, Real Madrid player Kylian Mbappé is featured in the foreground, but what’s really intriguing is the sprawling cityscape that looms behind him. In other words, Electronic Arts is teasing that EA Sports FC 27 will feature a full-fledged open-world mode, which has long been the subject of rumors, as you can check out below:

According to previous rumors, the open-world mode in EA Sports FC 27 will be titled The Grounds; players will be able to interact with each other in a massive city, customize their characters, play various mini-games, and more. Plus, attentive fans have already spotted The Grounds logo on the cover, along with other details—such as districts inspired by real-life cities like Paris and London, and we can even spot Alex Hunter, a character from the story modes of FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and FIFA 19. It appears he will be one of the many characters featured in The Grounds.

Over the past day, it has also been revealed that, for the first time in the franchise’s history, EA Sports FC 27 will have a PEGI 16 rating instead of the usual PEGI 3. Players have also discovered that the game will be available in three different editions—Standard, Ultimate, and Ultimate+ —and they have a clearer picture of what each edition will offer.

Last week, insider billbil-kun also shared that EA Sports FC 27 is set for release on September 25, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and Switch 2. The game’s official reveal is confirmed for July 23.
