EA Sports FC 27 Already Sold Almost 8 Million Copies Worldwide

The EA Sports FC series has traditionally been a reliable revenue driver for Electronic Arts, backed by a massive fan base and consistently strong sales. EA Sports FC 27, released late last month, appears to be no exception.

Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott shared updated sales figures, putting the game at nearly 8 million copies sold across all platforms in just under three weeks. The vast majority of players, around 80%, are on PlayStation, with total revenue topping $710 million, $506.7 million of that coming from PS5 alone. Elliott also broke down Xbox and PC numbers, though those clearly lag well behind PlayStation's.

EA Sports FC 27 is off to a huge start commercially:

  • 7.9M copies sold in under 3 weeks.
  • $714.1M estimated revenue.
  • 77.1% PlayStation.
  • 15.9% Xbox.
  • 7.0% Steam.

PS5 alone generated an estimated $506.7M.

Interestingly, despite a wave of negative player reviews, sales don't seem to be suffering at all. The PlayStation 5 version's user score on Metacritic currently sits at a brutal 2.3, while critics, on the other hand, have responded about as positively as they have for previous entries in the series.

There's also been talk recently that EA is developing an unannounced AAA live-service, free-to-play game under the EA Sports banner, based on job listings from one of its internal divisions, though nothing's been officially confirmed. EA Sports FC 27 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and Switch 2.
