The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Rumored New DLC Gets Exciting Update from Developer
It’s been a while since we heard some rumors about the upcoming third DLC to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that is secretly in the works at CD Projekt RED but developed by another studio, Fool’s Theory. Although there is still no official confirmation about this expansion, the latest update is hinting it was (and still) in development.
As revealed by Redanian intelligence, some X users have noticed the update in one of the developer’s LinkedIn. It stated that Attila Mark Kiss has worked as a 'UI Programmer' for The Witcher series using REDengine and WitcherScript. What’s curious is that the same engine has been used in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and actually abandoned for a while, since CD Projekt RED has chosen Unreal Engine 5 to develop The Witcher 4. That could be direct evidence that he has worked on a rumored, unannounced DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as you can check out below:
“I develop gameplay systems and UI components for the The Witcher series using REDengine, C++, WitcherScript, Flash, and ActionScript.”
During the latest financial report, CD Projekt RED revealed that the studio is working on some "unannounced gaming projects", though there was no mention of a DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is rumored that the new expansion will set up the events for the upcoming fourth installment of the franchise. However, it is still unknown when the potential announcement could happen or the release date either.
As for The Witcher 4, the game is also in active development for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 and doesn’t have a release date.
