Rebel Wolves Is Already Building the Next Dawnwalker Game
Rebel Wolves have no plans to take a long break after the release of their latest project. Barely a week after launch, the studio behind The Blood of Dawnwalker has confirmed it's hiring for a sequel and judging by the sales numbers, nobody's surprised.
Narrative director Jakub Szamalek (Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077) broke the news himself on LinkedIn, posting a job listing for a Lead Writer to help shape "the next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga:
The Blood of Dawnwalker released to critical acclaim and sold over one million copies in the opening weekend. But! We're not resting on our laurels - no, siree! We're already thinking about comes next. And so! Drum roll please! I'm looking for a Lead Writer to help me and the narrative team craft the next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga. We're looking for someone who, to put it bluntly, writes EXCEPTIONALLY well, has a track record of excellence and experience in team management.
The listing itself is light on detail no setting, no timeline, nothing about where the story goes from here. Szamalek is looking for someone who "writes exceptionally well" and has real experience managing a team, which suggests Rebel Wolves is scaling up its writers' room rather than just replacing anyone.
Rebel Wolves was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3, along with a chunk of the team that worked on that game and its expansions. The Blood of Dawnwalker is their first release as a studio, and it wears that pedigree openly: a dark fantasy action-RPG built in Unreal Engine 5, set in the fictional Vale Sangora somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains, during the Black Death of 1347.

The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and the reception has been strong, if not without friction. It's sitting around 83 on Metacritic and in the mid-80s on OpenCritic, where it carries the "Mighty" badge with roughly 89% of critics recommending it. Reviewers keep coming back to the same things: sharp writing, choices that actually stick, and that day/night structure doing something genuinely new with the open-world formula. The complaints cluster just as consistently some quest design feels repetitive, combat can lean too hard on pattern-recognition parries, and a handful of reviewers ran into a rough PC build at launch.
None of that seems to have slowed sales. Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco confirmed the game crossed one million copies sold worldwide within about 48 to 72 hours of release — a serious number for a completely new IP with no built-in fanbase. For a first-time studio's debut game, that's about as good a start as anyone could have asked for, and it's clearly why the "what's next" conversation started this fast.
