Half-Life 3 Was Supposed to Be Announced at The Game Awards, But Valve Changed Their Plans
A few weeks before The Game Awards 2025, there were a lot of rumors that Half-Life 3 was to be finally introduced by Valve. As we know, it didn’t happen, but it looks like that was planned, but Valve has scrapped its plans.
According to insider AleXXorTV, Half-Life 3 was supposed to be the last announcement at TGA 2025, instead of Highguard. The game also was set to be launched simultaneously with the launch of Steam Machine, but Valve cancelled their plans considering uncertainty with high RAM prices in the market right now.
“> HL3 was supposed to be the last announcement
> supposed to launch with steam machine exclusive
> Valve pulls out last second due to RAM prices
> Geoff pulls ANYTHING for last
> Highguard

Speaking of Highguard, the free-to-play first-person shooter from Titanfall and Apex Legends developers, Forbes journalist Paul Tassi reveals Wildlight Entertainment didn’t pay for their spot at The Game Awards 2025, and this decision was made by the show’s organizers, probably, after the Half-Life 3 cancellation reveal.
“Have learned that Highguard did not actually pay for that Game Awards finale spot. Was just the show putting it there”
Despite Half-Life 3 not being announced back in December, we have yet another clue that Valve is working on the game, and they’re waiting for the best announcement that hopefully will happen soon.
