GTA 6 Might Release on PC Sooner Than Expected—Because of Consoles Availability
The first GTA 6 gameplay footage, shown last week as part of a Netflix presentation, sent fans into a frenzy and confirmed why the game is the most anticipated title of the year. And this is despite the fact that Rockstar reportedly revealed only a tiny fraction of the upcoming project, given the game’s immense scale.
As expected, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended has had an impact on the game’s pre-order numbers: according to Sensor Tower, sales are already approaching the 5 million mark, with previous reports indicating that about 90% of those are the $100 Ultimate Edition. Like with most Rockstar games, PC owners will have to wait a little longer, but according to a new report, GTA 6 may launch on the platform sooner than expected.
Andy Robinson, editor-in-chief and co-founder of VGC, shared this speculation during a recent podcast. According to him, Rockstar might take this step due to market instability and rising console prices. Although he has no official information or links to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, Robinson added that such rumors are already circulating within the gaming industry.
GTA 6 could launch on PC sooner than expected, VGC predicts.
“I do think they’ll push the PC version up… because of the current hardware availability situation.”
There is no doubt GTA 6 will eventually make its way to PC, but following its console release on November 19, Rockstar plans to spend some time fine-tuning many aspects of the game—primarily those related to performance—before beginning full-scale development of the PC version. Incidentally, according to IGN, the game's PC version is the one that will truly unlock its technical potential, as current-generation consoles may not be fully capable of handling this task. At this point, Rockstar has not shared anything about the PC version of GTA 6; previously, reliable insider Tom Henderson suggested that the game could be released on PC in the autumn of 2027 —which is entirely consistent with the studio’s past release schedule.
