How Larian Baldur's Gate III Do: World Tester, Lightning-Fast Dialogue Reading & Other Tricks
Larian Belgians continue to share details of Baldur's Gate III development. This time, they told Polygon how they use a bot to test the game.
World Tester first appeared during the development of Divinity: Original Sin. Then the range of his tasks was limited, but mainly he was looking for errors related to the teleportation of characters. Over time, the skill of the artificial tester has grown.
When developing Baldur's Gate III, the super gamer (also called the bot inside the studio) can test the behavior of live players and the combat system. Also, the car is matched to walk through the dialogues at great speed. However, no matter how good the super gamer is, all his observations are somehow tracked, recorded, and only then the developers decide how to use the collected information.
Baldur's Gate III went into Early Access on Steam on October 6. The game caused a flurry of accolades, and also beat all the developers' expectations for sales. A full release is planned for at least a year.
