Strauss Zelnick Says Most Gamers Pre-Ordered the Ultimate Edition of GTA 6
Following Rockstar Games’ announcement last week regarding the next GTA 6 reveal, a number of interviews with Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive (the company that owns the developers), began circulating on the internet. New information published by Zelnick reveals that the majority of players did not hesitate to spend $100 on the Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Recently, Take-Two’s CEO gave an interview to CNBC, during which he made a number of interesting statements. According to Zelnick, pre-orders for GTA 6 are exceeding the company’s expectations, and most players have opted for the Ultimate Edition, which costs $100, rather than the standard edition ($80). He also stated that the game will not be discounted for Christmas and described the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix as “worth watching,” as you can check out his words below:
Take-Two CEO’s new interview on CNBC:
- GTA 6 pre-orders have gone much better than expected
- Rockstar understands that they need to exceed expectations and he believes they will
- More people pre-ordered the $100 edition, but that could be a reflection of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering
- A Christmas discount isn’t expected as they tend to preserve the price for a very long time
- He refused to give any details about the Extended Look, and only stated that it will be worth watching
It comes as no surprise that the majority of players have pre-ordered the $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6. Back in May this year, Insider Gaming conducted a poll that showed over 80% of players were willing to pay $100 for the game. However, Strauss Zelnik is not yet prepared to share even approximate figures for potential revenue from pre-orders. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why he described the price of GTA 6 as “an incredible bargain,” given that Rockstar Games will be offering a huge amount of content designed to provide hundreds of hours of real-time gameplay.
As for Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which is set to premiere on August 27 on Netflix, Zelnick stated that everyone should subscribe to the streaming service in order to see this new look at the game. Rumor has it that players can expect a 20-minute presentation of the game, during which Rockstar will showcase GTA 6 gameplay and demonstrate various in-game mechanics.
