New GTA 6 Details Shared by Video Game Journalist—Gameplay Feels “Completely Different”

Despite Rockstar Games recent announcement about the GTA 6 reveal set for August 27 on Netflix, the studio still hasn't shared any new details about the most anticipated game of 2026. However, an insider and gaming journalist with ties to the developers has stepped in with some fresh info, and if accurate, it shows just how ambitious this project really is.

We’re talking about HipHopGamer, whose interview, recorded last month, has now gone public. He reportedly draws on conversations with several GTA 6 testers. According to him, GTA 6 “wasn’t just made for games”—its underlying technology is designed to support film and TV applications too, letting players create their own stories within the game using UGC tools. He also claims the gameplay looks completely different from previous entries in the series, with shooting mechanics built around realistic weapon physics. Rockstar has reportedly put a huge amount of work into vehicle interactions specifically. HipHopGamer also touched briefly on switching between Jason and Lucia, the depth of the game world, DualSense features, and more. You can check out the highlights from the interview below:

Rumoured GTA 6 Details, via HipHopGamer:

  • GTA 6’s technology was reportedly developed with film & TV applications in mind
  • Gameplay feels “completely different” due to AI, immersion and new interaction systems
  • Future UGC could enable branded storylines and movie-style campaigns that alter the GTA 6 world
  • Stealing, entering/exiting vehicles and in-car gameplay are significantly more intricate
  • Jason & Lucia can reportedly work together during gameplay, beyond simply switching characters
  • The world is highly reactive, with player actions creating new gameplay possibilities
  • Controls are reportedly responsive enough to appeal to competitive/esports players
  • Rockstar/Take-Two patents may offer clues about the technology being used
  • Major PS5, DualSense and PS5 Pro features are reportedly included, with comparisons to Astro Bot’s controller integration

HipHopGamer (HHG) is a longtime video game journalist, host and content creator.

A more detailed breakdown of the HipHopGamer interview has since appeared on Reddit, laying out what the insider mentioned in more depth. For instance, when it comes to car interactions, Rockstar Games has reportedly paid attention to details like roof height variation, seat positioning, and window placement; players can expect unique, varied animations for smashing windows and pulling door handles, with characters actually interacting with the gear shifter, radio, and seat adjustments.

The developers are apparently applying that same level of detail elsewhere too—jumping through windows, climbing ladders, picking up weapons off the ground, and much more. The goal, it seems, is to make character behavior as realistic as possible and build a world that feels genuinely alive, where everything happening around you actually matters. And that's reportedly just a small slice of what Rockstar Games has planned.

We will most likely get a taste of all this, or at least part of it, on August 27, when Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look airs on Netflix. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously stated that pretty much everyone would need a subscription to catch the presentation, and HipHopGamer's recent comments only add more fuel to that fire.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as how GTA 6 is reshaping the 2026 game calendar and everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
