Remedy Confirmed Alan Wake 2 Sold 3 Million Copies and Revealed Hopes for Control Resonant

Remedy Entertainment is gearing up for the release of its next project, Control Resonant, launching next month on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The studio has also released a new financial report, which reveals not all the company's numbers reflect its momentum, though that could change soon.

According to the updated figures, Remedy's revenue for April–June 2026 fell 40% to €10.2 million, down from €16.9 million the previous year. With Control Resonant launching next month, though, the company expects the game to perform well—it's already been wishlisted over 1.5 million times across all platforms (PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5).

Remedy also announced that Alan Wake 2, released in 2023, has surpassed 3 million copies sold. It's not a jaw-dropping number, but it confirms the game hasn't just recouped its costs—it's already generating profit, making it a clear success for the studio. The company also expects Control Resonant's release to introduce some players to Alan Wake 2, since both games share the same universe. Meanwhile. Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon has previously claimed he believes the original Control and Alan Wake 2 both deserve far higher sales numbers.

As for Control Resonant, studio reps have confirmed it's the most ambitious, biggest project Remedy has made yet, something reflected in its genre shift too—the game is positioned as an action-RPG, leaning into close-quarters combat and semi-open environments. It also reportedly takes around 50 hours to fully complete the game.

Remedy has also previously discussed the possibility of a third Control game, although it’s fully dependent on the performance of Control Resonant. The studio is also working on Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, which are currently in full production, along with a new IP still in the concept phase.
