Insider Revealed Some Information About Upcoming Marvel Games—Venom, Blade, and Spider-Man 3

There are currently several Marvel projects in development across various studios. Unfortunately, many still don't have a fixed release date, and some are even at risk of cancellation. Meanwhile, a famous insider has now shared some fresh details on a few of them.

On his X page, well-known insider That REDACTED Guy has shed some light on several Marvel games. He was one of the first to debunk rumors that Marvel's Venom had been canceled, confirming last month that it's still targeting a 2027 release. He's now also claimed Insomniac plans to reveal more about the spin-off after Marvel's Wolverine launches in September, meaning an official announcement could come before the year's out.

Unfortunately, he also stated that Arkane Studios' Marvel's Blade still has no release date, with its budget reportedly exceeding Xbox's expectations by a wide margin—enough that Microsoft is apparently considering selling the studio. The insider also confirmed Marvel's Spider-Man 3, one of Insomniac's upcoming projects, will introduce Silk, yet another alternate version of Spider-Man. That tracks, since Cindy Moon showed up in a post-credit scene in Marvel's Spider-Man 2—though according to That REDACTED Guy, she won't get her own spin-off the way Miles Morales and Venom did.

Venom is still in active development and will get more focus once Wolverine launches

Blade is unfortunately TBD due to Arkane going over budget, Microsoft looking to sell the company and etc.

Silk will be featured in SM3 but has no solo project in development.

Speaking of Marvel's Blade, it was recently reported the game's budget hit nearly €100 million, which is well beyond what Xbox had planned to spend. Multiple insiders point to that budget overrun as the main reason development is struggling, and cancellation isn't off the table.

Marvel's Blade isn't the only troubled Marvel video game. There's also Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, announced in 2021 and currently in development at Paramount Games Studio. According to Shawn Kittelsen, the studio's head of creative and production, the game’s release is not expected until at least 2027. And many have probably forgotten by now, but Motive Studios is also working on an Iron Man game—there's been essentially no news on it in nearly four years, though work is reportedly still ongoing.

As for upcoming releases, Marvel’s Wolverine, the next title developed by Insomniac Games, is set to be released on September 15th, exclusively on PlayStation 5.
