Strauss Zelnick Says Everyone Should Watch Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix
With each passing day, we're getting closer to one of the biggest events this month, and maybe the year: a new look at GTA 6. Last week, Rockstar Games officially announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix August 27, before landing on the studio's own platforms afterward. Not every fan is thrilled about the partnership, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has claimed pretty much everyone should sign up for the streaming service to be among the first to see this new look at 2026's most anticipated game.
Zelnick made those comments during a recent interview with IGN, where he also shared a few interesting details. He used the phrase "extended trailer," hinting this will be a genuinely substantial preview of GTA 6, and stated he's confident everyone will want to watch it on Netflix, calling it a unique way to present new information about the game.
Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick encourages everyone to get a Netflix subscription ahead of the GTA 6 Extended Look on August 27th:
“If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, you definitely should be one. And as for the trailer itself, it’s coming soon enough that I’ll let you arrive at your own conclusion. I’m sure you’re going to watch it because everyone is.”
He also calls it an extended “trailer” instead of “look,” which is interesting and says Rockstar believes that a Netflix release would be a great way to show it off.
Netflix has over 325 million subscribers, so there is a huge audience made up of people who may not even know GTA 6 is coming out and they will be exposed to the game through the platform.
There are also reports that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look could run around 20 minutes, a detail that reportedly came from Netflix's support team, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Zelnick has made a few other comments recently, too—according to him, GTA 6 pre-order numbers are “unprecedented and astonishing,” though he didn't share an exact or even approximate figure. Additionally, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has claimed Rockstar Games has no plans to reveal a GTA 6 multiplayer mode anytime soon, so a first look at a new GTA Online likely won't be part of An Extended Look.
For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as how GTA 6 is reshaping the 2026 game calendar and everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, as confirmed by Rockstar, premieres on Netflix August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. You can also check out how and when to watch this major event. The game releases November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
