Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick Says GTA 6 Pre-Orders Are “Unprecedented and Astonishing”

Following yesterday's announcement from Rockstar Games that the new official GTA 6 footage would be available on August 27, Take-Two Interactive, the studio's parent company, held its latest earnings call, bringing several interesting statements, including some directly tied to the game.

As reported by Business Wire, Take-Two posted revenue of $1.53 billion for the first quarter of its fiscal year, and the company still expects net revenue around $8–8.2 billion for fiscal year 2027, largely driven by GTA 6. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also reconfirmed the sixth installment will release November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. He also added that "level of pre-orders is unprecedented and astonishing, and we’re very grateful for that", and "we just don’t know how it’ll translate into sales".

Take-Two has revealed that GTA 6 pre-orders are off to an “exceptional start,” according to CEO Strauss Zelnick during the company’s latest earnings call but did not disclose how many copies have been pre-ordered.

The company reported $1.39 billion in net bookings for the April–June quarter, when GTA 6 pre-orders opened, that represents Take-Two’s overall business.

As Zelnick also noted, fan expectations are likely to climb even higher after Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on August 27. There are no official details yet on what it will feature, but Netflix's official support team has revealed the video could run 20 minutes. If so, Rockstar Games is likely to cover a lot of ground—including a first look at gameplay, the open world, switching between characters, and maybe even a glimpse at the multiplayer mode.
