Rockstar Games Will Not Reveal Multiplayer for GTA 6 Soon Enough

Even with Rockstar Games new GTA 6 reveal, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, happening in less than three weeks, anyone hoping for a multiplayer update will likely have to wait a bit longer. At least, that's what a well-known gaming journalist and reliable insider has shared.

In a recent YouTube video, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier claimed he plans to interview Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick and also that neither Take-Two nor Rockstar Games has any plans to reveal multiplayer details for GTA 6—a sort of "GTA Online 2"—anytime soon. You can check out Schreier's full comments below:

“Take-Two is only talking about GTA 6 in terms of the single player portion… and not GTA Online. They have not talked at all and they are not planning to talk anytime soon about what the new GTA Online will look like…”

Back in June, when GTA 6 pre-orders opened, fans noticed the game was being positioned as a purely single-player experience, a theme that is also evident in its—somewhat disjointed—marketing campaign. Rockstar Games will very likely release a multiplayer mode for the sixth installment sometime after launch, much like it did with GTA Online, and rumors have already pointed to a possible December 2026 window. However, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has made any official statement on that yet.

Meanwhile, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has made a few other notable comments recently. He described GTA 6 pre-order numbers as “unprecedented and astonishing” and called the game's price “an incredible bargain,” hinting at just how ambitious Rockstar's new project really is.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as how GTA 6 is reshaping the 2026 game calendar and everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
