Alkimia Interactive Teasing Gothic 2 Remake and Revealed Their Plan to Support Gothic 1 Remake

This June, Alkimia Interactive, in collaboration with THQ Nordic, released the Gothic 1 Remake, an enhanced version of the original 2001 RPG. The game earned mostly positive reviews from both players and gaming media and sold 500,000 copies in its first week. The developers have also confirmed their plans going forward and seemingly teased a Gothic 2 remake down the line.

During the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase on August 7, Alkimia Interactive made several notable announcements about the Gothic franchise. First, it's been confirmed that Gothic 1 Remake will get several major patches over the coming months, aimed at fixing various technical issues. The developers also confirmed the game will soon add a photo mode and a number of other features, including a Mod Kit that lets players create their own mods. The trailer also revealed the studio is already working on a new title, expected to be unveiled next year—something fans have taken as an unofficial nod to a Gothic 2 Remake – something that the original game's voice actor had teased at before.

Alkimia Interactive also confirmed the original games, Gothic II Complete Classic and Gothic 3 Classic, are coming to consoles, with release dates now set. The second entry launches September 29 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, while the third arrives November 24 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The original game is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. That means console owners will be able to dive into the whole franchise in the coming months, with all its enhancements.
