Gothic 1 Remake: All Beasts of Khorinis Quests and Rewards

The Beasts of Khorinis questline is one of the most rewarding side activities in Gothic 1 Remake, allowing players to unlock new hunting skills by collecting the five Bestiary of Khorinis volumes and completing Cavalorn's research tasks. Each volume focuses on a different creature and grants a permanent hunting ability upon completion.

Beasts of Khorinis I

The first volume can be found inside Jan's hut, south of the New Camp entrance, as early as Chapter 1.

After bringing the book to Cavalorn and correctly answering his questions about Scavengers, players unlock the Take Skull Armor skill.

Beasts of Khorinis II

The second volume can be obtained either from the Old Mine or Wolf's hut in the New Camp.

To finish the quest, players must deliver the Minecrawler Queen's Pheromone Gland, obtained during The Minecrawler Nest quest in Chapter 2.

Completing the quest rewards the Extract Organ skill. However, keep in mind that the pheromone gland can also be given to Riordian, meaning you'll have to choose between the two rewards.

Beasts of Khorinis III

The third bestiary is hidden inside a cave near the Orc Territory and can be collected as early as Chapter 1 if you avoid the Orc guards.

After reading the book, Cavalorn will ask you to bring him three Lizard Bone Scutes.

Completing the objective unlocks the Take Scutes hunting skill.

Beasts of Khorinis IV

The fourth volume is located inside Shrat's hut west of the Swamp Camp.

This chapter focuses on Swampsharks. Cavalorn teaches players how to harvest their materials before asking for one Swampshark Skin and one Swampshark Plate. Completing the quest rewards 250 Ore Nuggets and 1,000 XP.

Beasts of Khorinis V

The final volume becomes available in Chapter 4 inside Xardas' Tower.

Cavalorn will then send players to hunt the legendary Frost Shadowbeast found in the Colony's tundra.

Returning with its hide completes the entire questline, rewarding 1,500 XP and the Extract Spine skill.

Why It's Worth Completing

The Beasts of Khorinis quests unlock several permanent hunting skills that allow players to harvest valuable monster trophies throughout the game. Because most volumes become available long before they can be completed, it's worth collecting them as you explore the Colony so you can immediately continue the quest once the required monster materials become available.
