Gothic 2 Remake Could Be in Development—Teaser Revealed By the Voice Actor

Last month, Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic released the Gothic 1 Remake, a highly anticipated remake of the classic RPG originally launched in 2001. The game received positive reviews from both players and critics, who praised it for its enhanced graphics, great atmosphere, the inclusion of new content, and more. Currently, it holds a score of 73 on Metacritic based on 44 critic reviews. And it seems that with the release of the Gothic 1 Remake, Alkimia Interactive has opened a bit of a Pandora's box, as the studio may now be working on a remake of the second installment.

At least, this is what Petr Glanz, one of the voice actors for the Gothic 1 Remake, has reported. On his Telegram channel, he shared this information while interacting with his followers and described it "as a secret." However, Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic have not commented on a Gothic 2 Remake, so the actor's words should still be taken with a grain of salt. That said, given the success of the Gothic 1 Remake, it's quite likely that work on a sequel remake could already be underway.

Incidentally, most fans consider Gothic II and its expansion, Night of the Raven, to be the best entries in the entire franchise. These installments expand on the original in every way, featuring a deep role-playing system and diverse gameplay thanks to three distinct factions. This is yet another reason why Alkimia Interactive might already be working on a Gothic II Remake. Moreover, reports indicate that the remake of the original title is performing well in sales; the developers previously confirmed that the game sold 500,000 copies in its first week.
