Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gets Unofficial First-Person Mode - and The Game Looks Even More Impressive

Following the recent theatrical release of the new Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, games featuring our friendly neighborhood web-slinger have seen a surge in new players. On top of that, a pretty fascinating mod has been released for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the title developed by Insomniac Games, which makes it even more spectacular.

A mod now available on Nexus Mods lets you play Marvel's Spider-Man 2 entirely in the first-person mode. It works for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, immersing players even deeper in the game's world. Web-swinging looks about as realistic as it gets, and the combat, while a bit tricky at first, actually looks pretty impressive. Interestingly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also featured first-person footage of its own, and its fight scenes, as director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed, drew inspiration from Insomniac's titles. You can check out a closer look at the first-person mod in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 below:

Speaking of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the film has been a massive success, already grossing over $1.6 billion at the box office and earning strong reception from both critics and MCU fans. As for the games, a new Alinea Analytics report shows that, thanks to the movie, revenue from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has climbed by $11 million, with over 300,000 copies sold combined on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Insomniac Games is currently working on its next project, Marvel's Wolverine, set for release next month exclusively on PlayStation 5. It's been confirmed the game is set in the same universe as Marvel's Spider-Man, though an MCU-style crossover isn't in the cards, at least not yet. Unofficial reports also suggest the studio is working on Marvel's Venom and Marvel's Spider-Man 3 —the Venom spin-off is expected to release in 2027, while the third mainline game is targeting 2028 or 2029, possibly timed to coincide with the PlayStation 6's launch. You can also check out which Spider-Man game might be right for you, depending on your favorite version of the character and whether you enjoyed Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
