Amsterdam: 1666 Announced at Summer Game Fest—Developed by Assassin’s Creed Creator, Patrice Désilets
One of the most promising announcements at the recent Summer Game Fest was the project 1666: Amsterdam. The game is exciting not only for its setting and main idea but primarily because Patrice Désilets, the creator of the original Assassin's Creed, and his new studio Panache Digital Games are behind its development.
However, as the debut trailer showed, 1666: Amsterdam even visually slightly resembles Assassin's Creed Syndicate, primarily due to the architecture of Amsterdam's streets, which are similar to some areas of London from Ubisoft's 2015 game. But in other respects, 1666: Amsterdam is a completely different project. Its events tell the story of a girl named Noah Brooklyn - a member of the Zaindaris order, given the name the Collector. Using various spells and charms, she needs to track down powerful beings who by day hide behind the masks of ordinary people but at night come out of the shadows and reveal their true face.
The gameplay of the game is essentially divided into two cycles. During the day, you can explore the open world, interact with its inhabitants, gather clues, and assess potential threats. But with the onset of night, 1666: Amsterdam shifts the focus to action and fighting numerous monsters. You can check out the debut trailer of 1666: Amsterdam below:
