New StarCraft: Dominion Details Revealed – Multiplayer, Story Campaign, Gameplay
Last week, during its BlizzCon presentation, Blizzard officially unveiled a new game in the StarCraft series - Dominion. The developers released the first cinematic trailer and confirmed a 2030 release, with new details and hints about the game gradually trickling out since.
Reddit users, for instance, have pieced together StarCraft: Dominion will include multiplayer, based on job listings on Blizzard's website, and RPG elements have also been confirmed. Meanwhile, lead developer Dan Hay, who previously worked on the Far Cry series, described the game as a "box product" in a recent interview, adding the following:
“It is a narrative-driven open-world shooter where players create a character, name them, and follow that character’s story. The story has a beginning, a middle, and an end.”
He also reiterated StarCraft: Dominion will feature a large open world for players to explore. Hay called it a genuine honor for him and the team to work on a series as legendary as StarCraft and claimed they're approaching the project with the seriousness it deserves, describing it as "winning the cosmic lottery."
Most story and gameplay details of StarCraft: Dominion remain under wraps, but it's confirmed the game takes place 70 years after StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void. Unconfirmed reports also point to a first-person perspective, co-op mode, and Unreal Engine 5. StarCraft: Dominion is confirmed to release in 2030. The platforms and release window are currently unknown.
