Netflix Received 100,000 New Subscribers in 6 Hours Thanks to the GTA 6 Gameplay Video
It's been just over two weeks since Rockstar Games unveiled the first official GTA 6 gameplay footage, presented on Netflix in a move that drew a massive gaming audience and marked a notable moment for the streaming service. Even now, new impressive details continue to come out.
Ampere Analysis has shared updated figures showing that within six hours of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look going live, Netflix gained 100,000 new subscribers, the third such spike this year, following the finale of Stranger Things and the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight. The portal also found the presentation helped pull back lapsed subscribers who hadn't used the service in a while, accounting for more than 5% of the total audience that tuned in.
It's already been reported Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look became the year's most-watched gaming presentation, ahead of Summer Game Fest and Nintendo Direct, and the Netflix boost appears to have translated into a real jump in pre-orders too. As of late August, GTA 6 sales were reportedly nearing 5 million copies, and that number has likely climbed further since. It will be interesting to see whether Rockstar sticks with Netflix for future reveals or shifts back to its own channels going forward.
For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far—the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more - as well as everything about GTA 6 pre-order details: price, bonuses, exact time, and Ultimate Edition.
Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
