Sony Is Not Planning to Make PlayStation Launcher on PC
After Sony decided to cancel releasing their exclusive games on PC, last month we heard rumors that the company was considering making its own launcher on PC. However, it seems like those rumors will remain just rumors.
During the conversation with users on ResetEra forums, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has addressed the possible reveal of PlayStation’s launcher on PC. Once again, he confirmed that Sony moved away from its strategy to release their video games on PC and cited as evidence the example of how developers of Saros, Housemarque, reacted to the possibility of upcoming exclusive title being released on PC. You can check out comments from Jason Schreier below:
“At some point Sony will confirm it, whether it's on a call with investors or maybe even when Housemarque starts doing press for Saros and someone asks if they have plans to bring it to PC and they say no.”
A recent report from the former PlayStation employee Jerry Lui, who worked as PC Planner & Insights Manager, reveals that Sony has made a profit of about $300 million from PC releases—and it happened during three years. There is no surprise why the studio decided to change their strategy, with all upcoming titles expected to be exclusives for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6 in the future.
