Hideo Kojima’s New Title Might Be Released Sooner Than Expected

As is well known, Hideo Kojima is currently working on two brand new projects—a horror titled OD and a tactical stealth-action game, Physint. Not much is known about these two games, but according to a new rumor, one of them may be released sooner than expected, with a new reveal scheduled for the end of the year.

The information was posted in the GamingLeaksAndRumors thread on Reddit, where a user—apparently citing their own sources—stated the horror game OD will be released on March 26, 2027. Furthermore, the user benii888 noted the game will be showcased during The Game Awards presentation in December of this year, with pre-orders set to open at that time. It’s also worth noting that OD was first shown at The Game Awards in 2023. Of course, for now, this report should be treated as a rumor, but similar posts regularly appear on Reddit and later turn out to be true.

This week, another Kojima project—Physint—received special attention. Specifically, it was announced PlayStation is no longer the publisher, and the game, like OD, will now be published by Xbox. According to the update, weak sales of Death Stranding and a budget that exceeded expectations were the main reasons PlayStation declined to fund the Kojima Productions project. Additionally, it has been reported the game designer will not be able to use the Decima game engine while developing Physint —and as a result, its release date may be pushed back even further.

As for OD, Hideo Kojima’s upcoming horror game is being developed in collaboration with Jordan Peele—the director of such signature horror films as Get Out and Us. Kojima has previously stated he intends to create a unique take on the genre. The exact release date and platforms for OD are still unknown.
