Capcom Is Updating RE Engine for Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake
According to multiple reports, the remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica will be the next franchise title to be released. The official announcement is expected to take place this year, with Capcom eyeing to release the title in 2027.
Although the developers are keeping quiet about the project, gamers are finding new evidence about the game. Specifically, gaming newsmaker Marcox, who also recently revealed the first details of the upcoming Resident Evil 10, has shared more leaks related to Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Firstly, he stated that RE Engine, the gaming engine of Resident Evil titles, has received an update titled Hair Strand 2.0. Moreover, this file is related to file CV_Claire_Model in the developers database. As we know, Claire Redfield is one of two main characters in Code Veronica, and it seems the model of the character for the remake is fully ready, as you can check out below:
"An update to the RE Engine has been spotted that adds support for “Hair Strand 2.0” technology (hair strand simulation). This update has been linked to a file named CV_Claire_Model in the developers' database, which means that the Claire Redfield character model in the remake is fully ready and features visual technologies that surpass those of the fourth remake"
Another post is also related to Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake; Capcom is actively working on uploading media files regarding the game as it is titled CV_R_KeyArt. It's likely that studio is already starting to prepare for the game’s announcement.
"An amateur programmer has posted screenshots of new paths to the official website, indicating the presence of large media files currently being uploaded under encrypted names such as “CV_R_KeyArt” (which likely stands for Code Veronica Remake)."
We also know that Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake will be directed by Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo, the directors of Resident Evil 2: Remake and Resident Evil 4: Remake. According to another leak, the game will be much different from the original title; specifically, it will focus more on Claire Redfield than on Chris Redfield, and some cutscenes from the 2000s game will be playable.
