Marvel’s Wolverine Will Be Similar to God of War and Tomb Raider About Its World-Building
One of the most upcoming titles of 2026 is Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games. The game is confirmed to release this September, and it will be a much different project than the previous installment based on Marvel universe—Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise.
Although all games exist in the same universe, Marvel’s Wolverine will be much more cruel and bloodier and will not feature an open world. Instead, it will have semi-open structures with unique enemies in each region. The newest report from Legion Looterana gives an update in this direction and adds that Marvel’s Wolverine will be similar to God of War and Tomb Raider games in terms of world-building and won’t be a sandbox like Marvel’s Spider-Man.
"Wolverine on PS5 will NOT be a giant sandbox like Spider-Man.
Insomniac opts for a "Wide-Linear" design (God of War or Tomb Raider style).
This will undoubtedly result in better graphics, fewer filler missions, and spectacular, carefully crafted moments."
Insomniac Games also confirmed they will reveal the new footage of Marvel’s Wolverine this spring, before pre-order opens. The studio will also probably share some story details, as the game’s plot is still shrouded in mystery. However, we know that Mystique, another X-Men member, will be one of the villains.
