Eidos Montreal Is Still Working on a New Alien Video Game
This week has been massive and frustrating at the same time for Eidos Montreal. Not only that studio was forced to announce another wave of layoffs, which affected 124 employees, Eidos Montreal also cancelled the game titled Wildlands that has been in development for 7 years.
Specifically, Insider Gaming shared an exclusive report in which source revealed that Eidos Montreal spend a lot of money on Wildlands project; the game was almost completed and even set to release this year but for some reason studio decided to cancel it. This, and another report of layoffs, has made gamers disturbed as studio also reportedly working on big-budget Alien video game. Despite their concerns, reliable gaming insider Tom Henderson revealed Eidos Montreal is still working on the game, and for now it’s not cancelled, as he stated during the latest Insider Gaming podcast:
“These layoffs are related to Wildlands, they are not related to any other project. As far as I am aware, the Alien Game is still in development.”
Eidos Montreal hasn’t announced their new game based on Alien franchise. It was previously described as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Xenomorphs” that will also feature puzzles, parkour, and stealth in Resident Evil style. The main character is named Aubrey, and Ripley 8, a clone of Ellen Ripley and played by Sigourney Weaver, who appeared Alien: Resurrection, will be in the game as well.
