Wildlands, Details of Eidos Montreal Cancelled Video Game, Reportedly Revealed
Yesterday, Eidos Montreal, which is mostly known for the development of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, announced the fourth wave of layoffs since March 2025. As it turned out, more than 100 employees that lost their jobs were working on a video game titled Wildlands.
In an exclusive report, Insider Gaming has shared details of cancelled Wildlands video game developed by the studio. The game has been known as P11; according to the source, it was an open-world, third-person action-adventure title, similar in its style to another cancelled title—WiLD, developed by Wild Sheep Studio. Wildlands was in development for 7 years, using 4 different engines, and Eidos Montreal reportedly spent hundreds of millions of dollars.
Insider Gaming also revealed the main character of Wildlands—River, who was a member of teenagers’ group called Spiritbounds. They used magical stuff to fight some bad spirits and also were able to ride mythical creatures. River also had a companion—a giant moose-looking animal called Redheart, and it served as a mount to cross the game’s map faster. What’s more important, the game was almost completed and set to be released this year, but for some reason it was decided to be cancelled.
Unfortunately, the source hasn’t revealed any art of Wildlands or some videos, but hopefully we will see some first looks at the cancelled game one day. Eidos Montreal is still reportedly working on a big-budget Alien video game, but considering the latest layoffs, the fate of the project might be disturbing.
