NVIDIA to Build Cutting-Edge AI Supercomputer in Taiwan with Foxconn and Government Support

American tech giant NVIDIA has unveiled plans to construct a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence supercomputer in Taiwan. The ambitious project will be developed in collaboration with Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn and supported by the government of Taiwan, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Announced earlier this week, the initiative carries both strategic and symbolic weight. On one hand, it sends a clear message of solidarity with Taiwan in light of mounting geopolitical tensions with China. On the other, it represents a major leap forward for the island’s AI capabilities. Researchers at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) plan to harness the supercomputer to accelerate innovation in their R&D programs.

“We’re thrilled to work alongside Foxconn and the Taiwanese government to help build Taiwan’s AI infrastructure,” said NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang, who himself is of Taiwanese heritage. “This collaboration will empower TSMC and other industry leaders to push the boundaries of innovation in the AI and robotics era.”

Beyond the supercomputer project, NVIDIA also intends to deepen its ties with other Taiwanese tech firms such as Acer, Asus, and Gigabyte. Together, they aim to develop the NVIDIA DGX Spark and DGX Station — new high-performance desktop AI systems designed for next-generation computing.
