eFootball Goes Anime — KONAMI Announces “Reincarnated in PES” Manga
KONAMI has taken an unexpected creative turn with its football franchise, announcing a manga adaptation titled That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES. The reveal was made during the eFootball CONNECT showcase on April 8, 2026, alongside details about the upcoming v5.4.0 update.
A Football Story with an Isekai Twist
The manga reimagines the Master League experience through an isekai-style narrative, where the main character is reincarnated into the world of football. Instead of managing a team from the outside, the story unfolds from within the game’s universe.
At the center is We United, a familiar club from classic PES titles, serving as the backdrop for the story.

Familiar Faces and Character-Driven Storytelling
Early chapters introduce characters such as:
- Burchet, a fast winger from Australia
- Minanda, the team’s captain and leader
- Castolo, a fan-favorite name from past PES games
The narrative focuses on the players’ personalities, relationships, and development, both on and off the pitch. It blends sports storytelling with humor, featuring exaggerated match moments and lighthearted locker room interactions.
Production and Release Details
The manga is being published by Kodansha, one of the biggest names in the industry, with artwork by Kiminori Wakasugi, known for Detroit Metal City and Kappei.
That Time I Got Reincarnated in PESis available on Kodansha’s K MANGA platform, with new chapters released weekly on Wednesdays. Two chapters are already available for readers to explore.
